About the RAL Color System
The RAL color system is Europe's most widely used color standard, developed in Germany in 1927. RAL Classic contains 221 precisely defined colors organized into 9 series by hue: yellows & beiges (1000), oranges (2000), reds (3000), violets (4000), blues (5000), greens (6000), greys (7000), browns (8000), and whites & blacks (9000). RAL Design System+ extends this with 1,134 scientific colors organized along three perceptual axes — Hue, Lightness, and Chroma — with codes like RAL D2 010 40 30. Together, the 1,355 RAL colors are the reference standard for architecture, construction, automotive, signage, and industrial coatings worldwide.
